
By the way before you get any ideas U.S. Code Title 18, Section 1705 prohibits the willful destruction of a mailbox, or mail within it, and allows for a fine and up to three years of imprisonment for persons who do so.

Correct me if I am wrong, but postal regulations also forbid "fortified" boxes that will not collapse if someone accidentally hits themselves on it?
Something to do with safety? I've seen articles where the local Post Office manager makes the homeowner take such boxes down.
