Save the Manatees!

No wonder these gentle sea cows are endagered species. The illegal traffic in them feed America's lucrative black market for postal receptacles.

Somebody notify Greenpeace.

(thanks to Hannah for the "i haz a mailbox" caption idea. I wish I would have thought of that! )

In case, it wasn't painfully obvious by the 4 foot tall manatee curbside, these people really like manatees:

This mailbox rocks! The rest of their manatees ruin it though. I bet these home owners are fans of hornymanatee.com

I'm guessing they aren't powerboat enthusiasts.

I saw this one when we went to Florida in Jan 07. Is it near Deerfield Beach?

I'm not positive, but I've seen the same one in Oceanport NJ. I haven't noticed further up on their property to see if they had the statues.

This is about every other mailbox in the keys.

I can't believe no one has said this before, and I know it's a manatee and not a walrus, but I am nevertheless compelled...

I has a mailbox!

Nooooooooo, they be stealing my mailbox!

This reminds me of the dolphin mailbox I saw on Sanibel Island in Florida.

That is a great mailbox! I don't think it deserved the ugly adjective. But maybe I am just being sensitive since I have a wacky mailbox.

Aww, sorry Austin, you'll notice my blog is titled Ugly Mailboxes but the tag line is "unsightly and unusual", I'd catagorize this as "unusual" (but only anywhere other than Florida and coastal regions because they are commonplace, especially in the Keys).

And Hannah, I'm editing that pic now with that caption! Thanks LOL

Cute. The others on your site are pants, but the manatee rocks!

Twenty-nine years ago as a newleywed I spied this mailbox for the first time sporting a Santa Hat and living next door to my mother-in-law. I immediately turned to her and stated what a great mailbox...she remarked how ugly it was...possibly a correlation....

I don't suppose this is in Jacksonville Beach, FL? I take my son to preschool on my bike and we pass one of these every morning.

I was shocked that there would be more than one. Then I found a site that makes and sells these:
